The capital city of Amaras and the former High Capital of Shaor, Astrael was the first of the cities founded by the nalhini to be recognized by the rest of the world. It was also one of the only places in the world where a Sun Tree could be found, from which the name of the country, Amaras, is named after (Amaras means 'of the Sun'). The city itself, while it is called the City of the Sun, was the name of Tindol's wife, Astraela.
Location
Astrael was founding along the ?? River, which runs through the ?? Pass. Its strategic location was, over the generations of kings descended from Tindol Valmardyn, improved and withstood several naval attempts to overtake it. As the city is located in a 'valley', with the sea on one side and the mountains on the other, it was considered folly to attempt a land attack against the city. Outside the walls, lush, fertile fields tended to provide food for those within and the city also relied on fishing.

The Suntree
Within the city proper stands the Suntree, a gift from the Sunbringer himself - the only deity of the Ancients that was continued to be worshiped though the origins and mythos vanished over the years until many forgot that the Sunbringer was one of the Ancients. The deity associated with the tree was known as the Father of the Gods, or the Father. During the Curse of Astrael, the Suntree withered and died leaving many to believe that the gods had abandoned them. When Thanar returned to the city, the tree began to live once again.
The Great Oak

Destroyed during the attack on Astrael by Aldralnian forces, the Oak was the symbol of Erastia and has withered and died but once a symbol of good harvents that many farmers looked to each season. The Oak was located outside the city in the courtyard of [name] and has yet to be torn down in hopes that it, too, will return like the Suntree did.
Hunter's Grove

Located in the city walls, the Grove was a small, untouched forest of birch and aspen that was home to many animals. Despite the name, hunting was banned within the sanctuary of the Forest God, Sylvar. The Grove, now overgrown and seemingly abandoned by its god, still provides homes for animals within the city and it is still forbidden to kill any creature within it despite the absence of Sylvar.
Moon Stones
Eilissa's place of honor was a circle of carved stones, elaborate and perfected to harness not only the light of the moon, but magic as well. During a full moon, the silver inlaid into the stone would shine, enhancing the power of Eilissa's clerics. It is large enough to allow festivals each year in her honor. The stones are now abandoned but the silver still shines under the moonlight, giving some hope that the Moon Dancer is still out there.
Raven's Hill
Near the mountains, Raven's Hill serves as the symbol of the Goddess of Death, Itanae. Known as the Raven Queen for her association with ravens that act as her messengers, Itanae's hill guards the road to the Hall of Kings, where the Valmardyn royal line is buried within the druid-carved tombs. A notable feature is the large white, leafless ash tree that sits on the tallest point of the hill and where raven's often roost. The tree itself is not dead and many who have lost loved ones will come to attempt to reach their deceased kin by touching this tree. Their success depends on the mood of the Raven Queen once, but since the Curse, Itanae has fallen silent with the other gods.
The Guardains
Twins of honor and war, the statues of Bob and Bobby are carved into the two great stones placed in a courtyard that rises high above the city and overlooks the buildings below. Both twins face apart but are shown as if entwined to show their motto where one cannot exist without the other and remain balanced. This is a saying soldiers and guards all learn in their training. The statues were destroyed during the Siege of Astrael and what pieces were recovered have been returned to the courtyard through the Council is still arguing on their reconstruction due to the silence of the gods.
